NAME
dxsysinfo - Monitors a system and its file systems and devices
SYNOPSIS
/usr/bin/X11/dxsysinfo [options]
OPTIONS
The System Information application has the following command line op-
tions. Specifies that the CPU Activity meter is displayed. Shrinks
the window so that only the General Information area is visible. Spec-
ifies that the Device Information area is displayed. Specifies that
the File System area is displayed. Specifies that the warning lights
for file systems and swap space are displayed. Specifies that the Free
Memory meter is displayed. Specifies that the Available Swap meter is
displayed.
If you use these options on the command line, only the specified parts
of the application are displayed.
A user preferences file is created in the user's home directory the
first time the application runs. It records the options that the user
specifies and any customizations made while running the application. If
any of the above command-line options are used, the application does
not use the settings in the user preferences file.
System Information accepts all of the standard X Toolkit command line
options, which are documented in the OPTIONS section in the X(1X) ref-
erence page.
The following list documents selected X Toolkit options. Specifies the
color to use for the window background. Specifies the display screen
on which dxsysinfo displays its window. If the display option is not
specified, dxsysinfo uses the display screen specified by your DISPLAY
environment variable. The display option has the format hostname:num-
ber. The default is :0. For more information, see the X(1X) reference
page. Performs the same function as the -d option. Specifies the
color to use for the window foreground.
DESCRIPTION
The System Information application, dxsysinfo, displays the following
information about a system: Operating system and version, amount of
RAM, and number of CPUs CPU activity, free memory, and available swap
space File system utilization Disk and tape device names
To start dxsysinfo from the CDE desktop, do the following: Click on the
Application Manager icon on the CDE front panel. Double click on the
System_Admin application group icon. Double click on the DailyAdmin
application group icon. Double click on the System Information appli-
cation icon.
Online Help
For additional information about the graphical user interface, see the
online help volume. To open the online help volume from within System
Information, run the application and choose Overview from the Help menu
in the main window.
You can click on the topics in the outline area to move through the on-
line help. You can also click on hyperlinks, which are displayed using
underlined text. In each dialog box within the application, you can
click on the Help button to get reference information on that dialog
box.
You can get help for a specified component in the application. To do
so, choose On Item from the Help menu in the application. The cursor
changes to a question mark. When you click with the question mark, ref-
erence information is displayed about the part of the application that
you clicked on.
EXAMPLES
To start System Information from the command line, enter dxsysinfo.
You can view the System Information online help volume without running
the application. To open the System Information help volume from the
command line, enter the following command: /usr/dt/bin/dthelpview
-helpVolume \ /usr/dt/appconfig/help/C/Dxsysinfo.sdl
