ATOF(3) FreeBSD Library Functions Manual ATOF(3) NAME atof - convert ASCII string to double SYNOPSIS #include <stdlib.h> double atof(const char *nptr); DESCRIPTION The atof() function converts the initial portion of the string pointed to by nptr to double representation. It is equivalent to: strtod(nptr, (char **)NULL); SEE ALSO atoi(3), atol(3), strtod(3), strtol(3), strtoul(3) STANDARDS The atof() function conforms to ANSI X3.159-1989 ("ANSI C89"). HISTORY An atof() function first appeared in Version 1 AT&T UNIX. CAVEATS On systems other than OpenBSD, the LC_NUMERIC locale(1) category can cause parsing failures; see CAVEATS in setlocale(3) for details.
