_getlong(3) Library Functions Manual _getlong(3) NAME _getlong - Retrieves 32-bit quantities from a byte stream LIBRARY Standard C Library (libc.so, libc.a) SYNOPSIS #include <sys/types.h> #include <netinet/in.h> #include <arpa/nameser.h> #include <resolv.h> unsigned int _getlong ( u_char *message_ptr ); PARAMETERS Specifies a pointer into the byte stream. DESCRIPTION The _getlong() function gets 32-bit quantities from the byte stream or arbitrary byte boundaries. The _getlong() function is one of a set of subroutines that form the resolver, a set of functions that resolves domain names. Global infor- mation that is used by the resolver functions is kept in the _res data structure. The include/resolv.h file contains the _res data structure definition. RETURN VALUES Upon successful completion, the _getlong() function returns an unsigned int (32-bit) value. FILES Defines name server and domain names.
